Lumberjack Weekend | at the Rohows “secret” east/west locations in Wisconsin
October 2018

OK, full disclosure here…
I just finished last winter’s LJ Weekend post and decided to get this one “on the board” at the same time so I’m “cloning” the snowy winter LJW into the “nice” Fall LJW… So here we go…

I had Friday off but because of other commitments I decided to stay home to get some chores finished and pack for the trip north-east. The day went well. Between catching up on other chores and packing for the trip the day was well spent. We ended up at the Wilsons for Friday Night “Fish Night” for a nice get-together…

Up at the usual time I delayed my exit to make sure Mary was sufficiently “prepared” for the day before I headed out. She’s on “active” duty today and Phil is covering for me. I plugged my phone into the Honda and headed east-northeast… An hour and a half later I drove into John’s driveway and found the Rohow clan already hard at work on John’s dead trees. John had texted me five minutes earlier wondering where I was so John was happy to see me show up just as they were getting ready to head farther east to the “Rohow east encampment.”…

I locked up the Honda and jumped in John’s Ford pick-um-up truck for the trip to Greg’s place.

We took at least 5 trees down and stacked the logs by the side of the road before we decided to take a dead tree near the road which turned into a road cleanup before any cars came by. It all worked…

We finished our chores at Greg’s and headed back to John’s for “Happy Hour” and dinner before heading out to the “alternative” fire pit and an after-dinner drink before hitting the sack for the night.

The weather cooperated so it was cool but not cold. I enjoyed the good food as well as the company. I think Greg and Jason were in charge of dinner and it turned out great!

I was worried as I’m in charge of breakfast in the morning…

Good Night!

My night went relatively well. I didn’t have to get up and go out in the cold to “cool off” so overnight works just fine…
I awoke to noises out in the living room. It turns out John and Greg were already up and watching TV.
I got up and got my cup of coffee and waited for the rest of the crew to wake up.

Once we were mostly up (Pete had a rough night and slept in to catch up) I started my breakfast routine but not before Greg stepped in to make some pancakes. Apparently we crossed email signals so both of us thought we had breakfast. So, we combined our efforts and created a great breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs (my specialty) and brats. I think it went over well as there wasn’t much left even though I used 18 eggs for six guys. I’m sure Greg had more than enough pancakes (I didn’t keep track) so we all had as much as we wanted.

We woke up Pete and finished breakfast so I could clean up the kitchen while the rest of the group packed the gear away for the trip home.
Once the cabin was vacuumed and cleaned we all finished packing, said our goodbyes until next time and headed out.

The weekend was a success. No missing digits and only some sore backs as proof of a good days work…
Thanks to John for the invite once again…
